Chris Brown arrested for assault

Grammy day was supposed to be a glittery affair for Chris Brown and Rihanna, the current “It” R&B couple who were both slated to perform at the event, but somehow things went horribly awry.
Instead of singing his smash hit “Forever,” Chris Brown was at LAPD headquarters being questioned for allegedly assaulting a young woman. Brown, 19, turned himself in on Sunday evening and was booked on suspicion of making criminal threats, a charge that carries a maximum penalty of four years. The case will now be sent to the district attorney's office and further charges could be filed. He was released from jail after posting $50,000 bail.
TMZ is reporting that the crime report shows the victim's name to be Robyn Fenty, which is Rihanna's real name.
While Brown appeared unscathed, sources claim that Rihanna, 20, suffered visible bruises on her face.
In a statement, police say Brown and his companion "became involved in an argument. After stopping his car, Brown and the woman got out and the argument escalated. The woman suffered visible injuries and identified Brown as her attacker." The police refused to identify the victim by name.
After the ceremony, Recording Academy President Neil Portnow said: "Musicians are no different than anybody else. I'm not judging. I'm sorriest that they weren't there for their moments on stage.”
Chris Brown has admitted in the past that he witnessed domestic violence in his household as a child. In a 2007 interview with Giant magazine, Chris Brown revealed that his mother had been physically abused by his stepfather.
"He used to hit my mom. He made me terrified all the time, terrified like I had to pee on myself. I remember one night he made her nose bleed. I was crying and thinking, 'I'm just gonna go crazy on him one day . . . ' I hate him to this day."
Dating violence is a lot more common than many realize. In fact, national reports claim that dating violence is the leading cause of injury to young women, and women ages 20-24 are at the greatest risk for intimate partner violence.
