Colleges scramble to scrounge up financial aid

As the economy nosedives, the need for college financial aid skyrockets. In this tough fund-raising environment, colleges and universities are asking donors to help meet the demand for financial aid.
Supporters of the tactic argue that even though less people are donating to charities, more people are concerned with the specifics of where their donations are going – they want to know that their money is being directly used to address “current needs.”
Students waiting and wanting to go college is certainly a current issue and one in need of some serious funds. Most colleges are making the case that donations will be immediately used and are of dire importance.

Hopefully universities will be able to find the funds they need for their scholarship programs. In this economic turmoil, nothing is more important for a young person than going to college to earn a degree in order to be more a more viable candidate in the work force. Hopefully the new administration will follow through on their promises of making higher education more affordable for everyone.
