Did Polluted Water Make Me Sick? The CDC will tell you!

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has launched a new website that’s a “one-stop shop” for anyone who wants to investigate whether their environment has caused illnesses from asthma to heart disease.

The site, dubbed National Environmental Public Health Tracking Network, aims to bring together a range of health data from reputable sources including the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and local hospitals.

The goal is for the site to become the place people go to when they have environmental questions, including investigating cancer clusters (a greater-than-expected number of cancer cases that occurs within a group of people in a geographic area over a period of time) and getting information about asthma risk.

The site currently contains data covering six -- asthma, cancer, carbon monoxide poisoning, childhood cancers, childhood lead poisoning and heart attack -- and four environmental conditions -- air quality, community water, homes and well water.
