Do Something's Dating Violence PSA stirs conversation

The alleged beating of Rihanna inspired DoSomething.org to create an online public service announcement about dating violence.

The new video features actors recreating the pop star's grim, highly publicized confrontation with her boyfriend, singer Chris Brown.

A young man and woman re-enact details from the Los Angeles police affidavit describing the February 8th incident while a narrator describes the scene in a deadpan voice.

The PSA closes with the statistic that one in three teenagers is abused in a relationship, and promotes DoSomething.org's "1 in 3 Campaign" which offers free bracelets — one blue, two black — to spread awareness about dating abuse.

The PSA and campaign's goal is to make people think and change their behavior, and to realize that this issue affects everyone of every race, culture and class.

DoSomething.org has sparked a national dialogue about teen dating abuse. Some have applauded the not-for-profit for prompting discussion about an important issue, while others claim that this is in bad taste as it capitalizes on an already disturbing case.
