Is John McCain calling Barack Obama a dumb blonde? Obama is again the subject of a new McCain campaign ad that alternates images of the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee and epic celebrity disasters Britney Spears and Paris Hilton, who are better known for their crotch-flashing antics and legal troubles than political expertise.
"He's the biggest celebrity in the world," the ad's narrator says. "But, is he ready to lead? With gas prices soaring, Barack Obama says no to offshore drilling. And, says he'll raise taxes on electricity. Higher taxes, more foreign oil, that's the real Obama."
The ad's verbal accusations continue the McCain campaign's ongoing attacks on Obama's energy platform. But the presence of Spears and Hilton in the spot takes the McCain campaign into novel territory and attempts to flip Obama’s support from stateside and across the world into a negative.
Obama told CBS News that he doesn’t pay much attention to McCain’s ads but he “does notice that McCain doesn’t seem have anything very positive to say about himself. He only seems to be talking about me. You need to ask John McCain what he’s for not just what he’s against.”
