Laura Bush weighs in on Sotomayor

Yesterday, Former first lady Laura Bush sat down with Good Morning America and had a few things to say about President Obama’s recent nomination of Sonia Sotomayor for Supreme Court Justice.
Happy with the decision, Mrs. Bush said Sotomayor “sounds like a winner and a good nominee,” and added “as a woman, I’m proud that there might be another woman on the court. We’ll see what happens, but I wish her well.”
She also commented on why we haven’t heard much from her husband, President George W. Bush these days, saying he was very “gracious” and is set on staying quietly supportive of Obama for the near future. “As a former president, he owes President Obama his silence on issues and there’s no reason to second-guess any decisions he makes.”
What do you think – will Laura Bush’s support help Sotomayor? What about George W. Bush’s silence on the issues – do you think Obama appreciates it? Let us know, comment below!
