The former Atlanta Falcons quarterback, fresh off a 23-month federal prison stint for running a dogfighting ring, signed a one-year contract with the Eagles on Thursday for 1.6 million dollars with a club option for a second year.
On Sunday, Vick appeared on 60 Minutes, confessing that he now understands why what he did was wrong and that he's sickened and disgusted by his own actions. Despite his remorse, 80% of Do Something users said Vick should be banned from the NFL.
With Michael Vick getting a second chance, we thought we'd check in and see how his Bad Newz Kennel pitbulls are doing.
Best Friends, the largest no kill animal sanctuary in the USA, took 22 of the pit bulls in January 2008 when other groups called for their destruction and said they could not be rehabilitated. Garcia says all but two of the pit bulls, Georgia and Lucas, will be sent to families eventually. Only Georgia and Lucas will stay at Best Friends for the rest of their lives because they were prize fighters and are consequently considered a greater threat to the public.
Now, they are a different kind of prize says Best Friends trainer John Garcia, who was on Larry King Tuesday night with Georgia.
“Georgia had experienced fighting her whole life. Now, she’s going around meeting people all over with us in places like the Beverly Hills Hilton. We hope that sends a very powerful message. She's gone from rags to riches. These dogs were the victims. All it has taken is patience.”

Im my opinion I don't think Michael Vick desirved a second chance. Dogs that were killed didn't get there second chance to live life over again. But the ones that survived the fights will get a second chance at life thankfully but I don't think he should.
It seems to me that these professional sports federations care more about putting on a good performance by having the best athletes on the field rather than having above-average athletes who are good role models for the kids. We need to remember all the kids who are watching this stuff; if they see that their favorite athlete drowned and beat some dogs and then was allowed to come back and play in their league, then what kind of example does this set for the children? Having lived in Ohio all my life I hear a lot about Bengals players getting arrested for these stupid crimes that they should've never committed. When will these federations say enough is enough?
i must say i am so disappointed in the NFL. Michael Vicks couldnt be more of a freakin moron even if he tried. "he now understands why what he did was wrong and that he's sickened and disgusted by his own actions" really? he didnt think dog fighting, breaking his own dogs legs, and beating them was wrong? he'll get whats coming to him one day. karma is a bitch.
animal abuse is not human, and michael vick isnt humane, he disgustes me......and i dont bleieve the
he now understands why what he did was wrong and that "hes sickened and disgusted by his own actions" crap he did it for money, beat those poor animals and the only thing he is sad about is been caught, he doesnt deserve a second chance...who gave the dogs that died a second chance?.......killing is a crime, why isnt he still in prison...he desverse life...but as MsDior said karma is a bitch and he is going to get it.
Well I may not be an EAGLES fan but I am a Micheal Vick fan I think he has a wonderful athletic skills and many kids look up to him and many people have forgave him. While attending an EAGLES game with my family there were countless number of people wearing #7 jersies and of the times he came on the field to Quarter back many people were cheering and screaming his name.
I think majority of the people that can't forgive Vick are animals lovers. Don't get me wrong I love dogs they are wonderful creatures but you have to remeber he didn't do this by hisself, and everyone deserves a second chance to prove themselves. We are only human we all make mistakes.
You dont have the right to judge anyone everyone desrves a second chance and only GOD can judge and who are you to say he isn't sorry and trying to change
Although God is the one to judge us and even if Micheal Vick truely is sorry, he will still be punished sooner or later. God may forgive you but you can still be punished, especially if you have accepted him as your savior.
Micheal Vick to me did not deserve a second chance. How can he just realize what he was doing was wrong? I mean you have dogs in your garage or basement fighting sometimes until they kill one another and you have people sitting around cheering for who they like best. How is that fair? You take two dogs and put them in a fenced in area and through things at them until they go after each other. I mean it's not the dogs fault but now because of this and many other people who decided to train pit bulls they have a bad rep and they shouldn't. It's human's fault not the dogs. It's time we realize that and start changing our actions.
I can't understand why some people search for such sadistic things as dog fights. He should have been imprisoned for a longer time for what he did. Too bad some of the dogs are so messed up that they can't ever again be man's best friends.
