Protests continue in Iran

Using the tenth anniversary of a student uprising that, at the time, posed the biggest threat to the Islamic regime, thousands of people crowded the streets of Tehran on Thursday to resume demonstrations against the outcome of the June 12 presidential election.
A journalist on the scene reported that the pro-government militia struck people on the arms and back while some protestors set trash cans on fire to counter the effects of the tear gas. Security forces has warned that police would “strongly confront” anyone who came out to demonstrate.
Journalists around the globe have reported that Iranians are frightened after a brutal crackdown on those who protested the outcome of the June 12 presidential elections. Six days of protests erupted and more than 25,000 people eventually participated.
