Republicans go Gaga

Republican congressmen were tapping their toes to the tune of Lady Gaga’s “Just Dance” this morning, at their weekly Republican party conference meeting.

Rep. Dave Reichert, of Washington, showed his colleagues a parody video made by a 23-year-old University of Washington graduate. The video, called "Just Tax," took jabs at Obama and the Democratic party for overspending American taxpayers’ money on plans to revive the economy and launch a new healthcare system in the U.S.

Reichert said the video was meant to encourage other congressmen to get young people involved in politics by using media, like YouTube, Facebook and Twitter. His spokeswoman said “He wanted them to encourage youth in their district, and share the message on a level that young people can relate to.” President Obama is often credited with using these tools throughout his campaign to get young people on board.

So what do you think? Do the Republicans have a shot at getting more young people excited to be a part of the Republican party? Is this kind of media the way to do it? Or, do you think they were just enjoying a light moment of poking fun at the Dems? Let us know, comment below!

I'm glad the Republican party is finally exploring ways to upgrade. After the 2008 election, it was clear which party's social media and internet strategy was more successful.

I sort of love this in spite of how bad it is and how ridiculous the message is.
