Shocking reality about e-waste recycling

So 60 Minutes can be a little stodgy, but last night they debuted a shocking piece about the e-waste industry. E-waste, if you don't know, is the term for old computers, cell phones and other electronics that are filled with highly toxic materials.
Apparently some "recycled" e-waste materials are illegally shipped overseas where they are broken-down for value using unsafe, antiquated methods while the remainder is burned or discarded.
What's most upsetting is that well-meaning people can be unfortunately involved in an international worn-out electronics smuggling scheme! This shouldn't discourage you from running an e-waste drive in your community, just make sure to work with a trusted company.
