Texas teen and Guyer High’s Senior class president Nick Stevens was hoping to live it up with his friends at senior prom, but swine flu has put a serious crimp in his plans.
School officials postponed the dance because of swine flu-related concerns. Texas has the second highest rate of swine flu cases in the U.S., with a total of 28 confirmed cases.
Nick said, “I thought it was an extremely unwise decision,” before adding, “They could’ve check temperatures to see if people had flu-like symptoms” and avoided letting sick people into prom.
But other students may find themselves in the same boat, as swine flu is downsizing college graduations, proms, and extra-curriculars across the countries.
Some schools in Texas have altogether canceled graduation ceremonies, at at other, like Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvana, a separate grad ceremony was held for students who had recently traveled to Mexico, the destination of choice for many spring breakers!
One thing is for sure – hand sanitizer will take center stage at proms, grad ceremonies and other festivities this spring.

We haven't had any confirmed cases of swine flu at my school but a school nearby was just closed for two weeks! Many people are hoping for our school to close, but since we only have a few more weeks left, I would rather just get it over with. I think it would be worse to have to go to school in June or July.
