Drew Brees owns some impressive stats: 47 consecutive games with 20 completions, 54 consecutive games with a touchdown, and 5,476 single-season passing yards, all NFL records.
Now, the New Orleans quarterback is putting up his biggest number yet: 1 million, the amount of money he and his wife, Brittany, are donating to victims of Hurricane Sandy through the Brees Dream Foundation.
“Obviously, we know the type of devastation that a hurricane like that can cause,” Brees said, having seen the impact of Hurricane Katrina firsthand. “We can only imagine the devastation and the way that it’s changed people’s lives up there. Certainly they can use all the help they can get. It’s something we felt compelled to do as a foundation.”
The Super Bowl champ isn’t new to doing-good gridiron. He offered relief in the 9th Ward after Katrina and worked to end famine East Africa. He’s also pledged to donate $2 million to various New Orleans charities.
Oh, how they want to be in that number when this Saint comes marching in.
