Besides billions of dollars worth of destruction, Superstorm Sandy has also wreaked havoc on East Coast election polling stations.
For New York and New Jersey (two of the hardest hit areas), there are still 1.9 million homes and businesses without power. 143,000 voters in NYC have been assigned to new polling stations. And Governor Andrew Cuomo announced Monday that all New Yorkers affected by the storm can vote at any polling place by presenting an affidavit. Currently, 25 percent of homes and businesses are without power in NJ and officials are allowing displaced voters to cast their ballots by email as a result. The state also assigned new polling locations for at least 29 towns. Pennsylvania also has over 200 polling stations without power.
