GLEE Season 3 Recap

It's been a heavy season of Glee. In between disco dance numbers (and the terrifying polyester suits that went with them), McKinley High students dealt with things like attempted suicide, disability rights, and bullying. Here are a rundown of the major issues that popped up in the halls. Plus, we tell you what to do about them in real life (hint: the answer probably doesn't lie in song).

1.Suicide. Karosky, a one time bully himself, was bullied so much at his new school that he tried to kill himself. Luckily Kurt helped him imagine the It's Get Better-esc future.

2.Bullying. No matter how hard the Glee kids try to stop bullying, it keeps cropping up. Uber-bully Sebastian ended up hurting Blaine (with a slushie! nothing is safe anymore!) in his attempts to bully Kurt.

3.Teen Pregnancy. Quinn was desperate to get her baby back (remember she gave it up in Season One). Pregnancy can have far reaching emotional consequences...and physical ones (Ryan Seacrest tattoo!?!).

4.Domestic Violence. Beast goes home all season to a husband who hits her. Fortunately, Puck gives her the support she needs to leave him behind.

5.LGBT Discrimination. When Santana comes out to her grandmother she expects love and support. Instead she's told she won't be accepted. Luckily, she's still got the support of a funny girlfriend (who has her own cat talk show).

6.Texting and Driving. For Quinn, texting and driving came at a high price. She survived, but not everyone who texts and drives is that lucky. (Distracted driving causes 8,000 every day.)

7.Arts in Schools. When Sue runs for Congress, she claims arts education isn't important. A typical evil Sue tactic, fought with the Glee club's glitter bombs. Glitter is awesome in all circumstances.

8.Mental Health. Watching Emma individually wash every grape might seem funny (why not eat fruit with less surface area?). However, when her parents advise Will not to marry her because of her OCD, it becomes obvious her mental illness isn't a joke.

9.Homelessness. After his dad loses his job, Sam is homeless for much of Season Two. This season, things were still so tight, he took up stripping to help his family pay bills.

10.Drug Abuse. Finn learns his father had a drug problem and actually died from a drug overdose (not in the war). While he worries he could turn to drugs, he realizes with the support of his friends and family he can stay drug-free.

11. Animal Rights. Rachel's veganism comes up when Finn cooks her a romantic dinner with (hopefully) meat free products. Lesson of the night: give your boyfriend a friendly reminder of your veganism before the big night.

* Update! Our Troops: OMG Finn is joining the army! Once you get past the sob inducing break-up speech (which was not helped by Finn running by the side of the train as Rachel disappeared into the sunset) Finn is trying to do something really meaningful by enlisting: honoring his dad's memory.
