Team Do Something is training through the winter so we can hit the spring and summer seasons hard this year. In addition to training, Coach George has already begun some intense pre-season scouting of other not-for-profit, NYC based, co-ed intramural sports teams (think spy-gate Boston Fans).

The only thing holding up the team right now is which sport we should be playing. Here are some of our options so far: Ultimate Frisbee, Soccer, Kick Ball, Dodge Ball, Soft Ball, Cross Country Running.

Please leave a comment if you have any ideas for us.

3am Volunteering in NYC

Even the volunteering never sleeps in NYC. Staff members George and Ben (aka Wonder Boy) were a part of the HOPE New York City homeless count. The goal was to coordinate 3000 volunteers to search every block of NYC to count and help homeless people.

In order to make sure the count is accurate there are also decoy homeless people that are sent out. The Do Something counters patrolled about 10 blocks in the meatpacking district. They only found homeless people on the walk to and from the area but thought the experience was amazing.

Legend of Wonder Boy Intern(part 1): Puppie Rescue

The story - now legend - of Wonder Boy has grown to the point where it has become necessary to track it in a multi part series. In this episode Wonder Boy unleashes a dog that was caught in an elevator door in the Do Something lobby before the elevator made it to the top floor.
But most amazingly he didn't spill a drop of our coffee.

Since this episode, Wonder Boy has been promoted to User Relations. So feel free to submit a help request and check out the service - http://www.dosomething.org/help

Do Something CEO Stalks Bill Gates at World Economic Forum
CEO Nancy Lublin is taking the World Economic Forum in Switzerland by storm. The forum has some heavy hitters including Mr. Gates who called for "creative capitalism - a way to make the aspects of capitalism that serve wealthier people serve poorer people as well" in a speech at the forum. Go get him Nancy!

Do Something meets American Idol

First up, I want to introduce you to two new members of the Do Something family! I present, Vanessa, karaoke maestro! Sing it, sister!

Karaoke Judgement Day

We joke around a lot at Do Something, but there is nothing funny about the Holiday Karaoke party. That’s right, the Do Something office holiday karaoke party is coming and non-vocally inclined members of the staff are counting down the days in fear. Please, if you have a moment send us words (comment) of encouragement to: Weorge Geiner, Wordyn Jells, Wezlie Lheeler (names have been slightly changed to protect the embarrassed).

CEO becoming Karma Tycoon of the office?

Last week CEO, Nancy Lublin rescued a very high end palm pilot from the seat of a NYC taxi cab. After looking through one too many personal emails, Nancy contacted the appropriate husband and within a couple hours the Palm was returned.

Though no reward was expected, none was offered.

George Poisons Coffee Coop

Last week it was discovered that long standing Coffee Coop Loyalist, George aka gweiner was using the bathroom sink to fill up the coffee jug.

When the building maintenance informed the office that the pipe water was not potable the reason why the coffee had tasted so terribly.

When questioned George had this to say: "I thought it was fine, I mean doesn't boiling water kill everything... I don't feel so good".
