Kerry Wood Hits Homerun for Good

Cubs’ Kerry Wood has scored a homerun with his latest charity initiative. The relief pitcher traded in his ball for batter, trying his hand at baking in support of the Wood Family Foundation.

Wood, along with his wife, decorated the organization’s official (red velvet) cupcakes, which launched with the teams’ season opener against the Washington Nationals. The couple has partnered with Swirlz Cupcakes and all proceeds will go towards the Wood Family Foundation. The nonprofit aims to improve the lives of young people in and around Chicago. Sweet, with a side of good!

The couple has been advocates for several notable Chicago children’s charities, raising over $2 million for the community they love.
