Sean Penn Receives Peace Award

Sean Penn is no stranger to receiving honorary awards, but this one is a little different for the Oscar-winning actor.

Penn recently accepted the 2012 Peace Summit Award given by former Soviet president Mikhail Gorbachev for his noteworthy humanitarian work in Haiti. Upon acceptance Sean emotionally urged the world to remember Haiti and to invest in the country’s promising future.

"It's an overused phrase I know, but I trust you know its genuine today, I am humbled. I'm trembling and I like it," he stated, unable to contain his gratitude and excitement. (Tots understandable.)

Penn has been a major contributor to the rebuilding efforts after the January 2010 earthquake killed over 300,000 people and left 1.5 million homeless. He's the first non-Haitian to be ambassador-at-large for Haitian President Michael Martelly. And he's also the CEO of the J/P Haitian Relief Organization.

Woot Woot! He's one celeb gone good.
