Why Two Colts Cheerleaders Shaved Their Heads

Something unusual happened during Sunday’s Indianapolis Colts vs. Buffalo Bills game. The crowd cheered on the cheerleaders. (Yes, you read that right.)

Over 60,000 fans witnessed Colts cheerleaders Megan M. and Crystal Ann get the ultimate haircut for good after the third quarter of the team's 20-13 victory. The two shaved their heads in support of Coach Chuck Pagano, who is battling leukemia.

On Nov. 11, Blue, the team mascot, issued this Twitter challenge: he raises $10,000 for leukemia research and one cheerleader would shave her head. Megan and Crystal accepted.

Not only did Blue reach his goal – he doubled it. Over $22,000 was raised in support of Coach Pagano and his family. All proceeds from the CHUCKSTRONG campaign will benefit leukemia research at the IU Health Simon Cancer Center.

Even more amazeballs? Megan and Crystal weren’t the only ones to make this showing of solidarity. Over two dozen players, along with several Colts support-staff personnel, shaved their heads earlier this month. (Woot! Their actions kick ass.)
