Do Something Awards to air Thursday, feature Oklahoma celebrities
Blake Shelton, Reba McEntire and Ronnie Dunn are among the nominees, Olivia Munn is a presenter, and Ryan Tedder and OneRepublic are performing.
Several Oklahoma celebrities will perform, present and compete for awards when the 2011 Do Something Awards air at 8 p.m. Thursday on VH1.
Taylor Swift, Kenny Chesney, Reba and Blake Shelton are among the nominees for VH1’s Do Something Awards, which honor celebrities for their charity work. Fan votes will determine the winners in a variety of categories, including the Do Something Concert Award. Reba and Blake’s Oklahoma tornado benefit concert and Taylor’s tornado relief dress rehearsal concert are among the nominees in that category. To vote log onto DoSomething.VH1.com, then see who wins, August 18th on VH1 when Jane Lynch hosts the Do Something Awards.
Oklahoma country music stars Reba McEntire and Blake Shelton have received a Do Something Award nomination for their pair of home state charity concerts that raised $500,000 for tornado relief efforts in Tushka.
In addition, the hit NBC reality TV show “The Voice,” which features Shelton as one of its four superstar coaches and included McEntire among its first-season celebrity advisers, has been nominated for a Do Something Award.
There wasn’t one country music star who didn’t step up when Music City was devastated by the recent flood that wiped out many landmarks, such as the Grand Ole Opry.
