Oklahoma country music stars Reba McEntire and Blake Shelton have received a Do Something Award nomination for their pair of home state charity concerts that raised $500,000 for tornado relief efforts in Tushka. In addition, the hit NBC reality TV show “The Voice,” which features Shelton as one of its four superstar coaches and included McEntire among its first-season celebrity advisers, has been nominated for a Do Something Award.

On Twitter, Olivia Wilde, the actress from “Tron,” “House,” and the upcoming “Cowboys and Aliens,” tweeted she was nominated for a “Do Something Award,” on VH1. Curious, I wandered onto the page, and it’s a show that honors people in entertainment who donate time and money to charities. There is an actual awards show on VH1 on Aug. 18. Of course, I applaud there being an awards show to bring a spotlight to all these causes. But lets be honest, my support of the show will only go so far if it’s not entertaining.
