Oklahoma country music stars Reba McEntire and Blake Shelton have received a Do Something Award nomination for their pair of home state charity concerts that raised $500,000 for tornado relief efforts in Tushka.
In addition, the hit NBC reality TV show “The Voice,” which features Shelton as one of its four superstar coaches and included McEntire among its first-season celebrity advisers, has been nominated for a Do Something Award.
Megan Fox made an appearance at the 2010 VH1 Do Something Awards held at the Hollywood Palladium last night.
Fox introduced one of the five finalists of the evening, which was devoted to honoring folks -- famous and not -- who work for social change. The night concluded with Jessica Posner named grand prize winner. She received $100,000.
The charitable folks at VH1 have organised the Do Something Awards to encourage celebrities to do something during the unrelenting gossip drought...
Of course, since the celebrities in attendance included 90210/Disney/Twilight-types, there was no gossip at all (just lots of shagging behind the scenes). Even Paula Abdul couldn't be relied upon to bring any drama.
It's all for charity though, so well done to everyone for attending etc etc.
The 2010 Do Something Awards, hosted by Glee TV star Jane Lynch, took place Monday (July 19) in Hollywood.
The ceremony celebrated a new generation of do-ers and world changers by honoring five young people for their commitment to social change.
