Dogfighting raids save 350 dogs

In the largest simultaneous raid of dogfighting operations in the U.S., 350 dogs were seized and 30 people arrested during raids in five states on Wednesday.

Attorneys have announced related indictments accusing 26 people of cruel acts against animals including shooting dogs in the head when they didn’t fight well, then throwing their carcasses into a river or burning them in a barrel.

Seal killing: A blow for animal rights activists

The past year has seen some forward motion for animal rights activists--like CGG fave Hayden Panettiere-- who are fighting to end seal slaughter, but new reports show that there is still a long way to go.

Quote of the Day: Hayden Panettiere

Hayden Panettiere
via seventeen.com

“There are two things that make me really happy: traveling and animals. I would be the happiest human being on the planet if tomorrow I got on a plane to Africa and I worked with chimpanzees or orphaned elephants. I don’t care if I have to live in a hut with no running water. No glamour.”

The star of the hit show “Bones,” Emily Deschanel, has had enough of this monkey business! The eco-friendly, animal loving actress is getting political and raising her voice for the chimps. She recently wrote a letter to California congressman Rep. Henry Waxman urging him to cosponsor the "Town-Reichart Great Ape Protection Act."
