Animal Homelessness

A common item on animal rescues and shelters wishlist are blankets. Blankets help make the animal feel comfortable, can help relax them and make them feel loved. It will also help the rescue or shelter the animal is staying at.

why it's important:

I have volunteered and worked with animals my whole life. I see how just having a nice place to lay on can make the animal's stay at a shelter or rescue better. It is like a sign that someone loves that animal and with a treat or toy it says I love you even more. I want the animal to feel loved because so many have been through so much and were denied the love that they deserve.

the plan of action:

I will make two types of no-sew fleece blankets. A dog one and a cat one. I contacted multiple rescues to ask for a headcount on how many dogs and cats they have so I can estimate how many blankets I will need to make. With each blanket I give for a dog, I will also give a homemade dog treat and for each cat blanket, I will give a homemade catnip toy.

For the fleece fabric, I have contacted fabric stores to see if they can offer me a discount or give donations of fleece.

I am going to talk to different schools and business in the areas to see if they would want to start a supplies drive. I would provide them with the wishlist of different rescues. When the drives are finish I will deliver those items to the rescues along with the blankets.

the problem:

I am working to solve the problem of too many homeless pets in kill shelters or on the streets.

why it's important:

This is important to me because I have had many pets in my life that have come from shelters and I know they can be a great addition to a family. However, too many people would rather get a well bred pet that costs a lot of money when there are plenty of animals that need homes.

the plan of action:

I plan to increase awareness of this issue by having events. Also I want to have people volunteer at shelters walking dogs and creating more visibility of these animals in the community.

I am trying to stop any animal cruelty, help animal get out the shelter alive and more.

I hate seeing animal commercials and crying after each one and just sitting there watching it. I want to make a change.

To call animal shelter and ask to use there animals for an animal-a-thon.

the problem:

I am trying to help local animals in our city! Many animals are homeless with no food, water, shelter or love. By fostering an animal from your local animal shelter, you are able to provide all those items for that animal to have a full and health life!

I have grown up with animals all my life, so I have formed a bond that just can never be broken. It truly bothers me to see an animal lonely, starving and cold, and never knowing exactly what it did wrong. By helping one animal, I feel as though I have saved a life!

the plan of action:

I foster dogs and cats from my local shelter, finding them a forever and loving home! The more animals I am able to foster, the more room I make in the animal shelter, allowing both animals to get off the street, stop the starvation and homelessness.

how you can get involved:

Others can help by making a trip down to their local shelter. Even if taking in an animal is not for you, volunteering or even spreading the word of this cause can make a huge difference on an animals life!

the problem:

I am trying to stop animal starvation in my community. I want the animals in the animal shelter to not be hungry and be comfortable like in their own home while they wait to find a family.

This is important to me because I care about animals and I don't want to see them suffering because of the mistakes of others.

I plan to raise funds and food for the Jerome Animal Shelter. I will put up flyers around my school to help raise awareness.

This project's goal is to show the perspectives of the animals in this world, that suffer and endure the hardships of animal abuse and homelessness.

This is so important, because animals are authentically affected by these issues, similar to we as humans do. We need to face these issues as reality, and quit avoiding what is really happening to these precious animals that we call family.
