In more natural disaster news, meteorologists continue to track Hurricane Rick, which they have downgraded to a Category 3 storm early today.
The hurricane is headed towards Mexico’s Pacific coast, and is expected to make landfall midweek. Right now, it is producing winds around 125 miles per hour, and forecasters say despite the downgrade it is expected to be a dangerous hurricane and warned people in western Mexico to take steps to protect themselves in advance.

A strong typhoon is making its way towards the Philippines today, as the nation continues to recover from two massive storms in the past month.
Tropical Storm Ketsana and Typhoon Parma have ravaged the country recently, leaving a still-rising death toll of 858 in their wake. Many died immediately when the storms struck, but bacterial infections due to tainted water have left many still sick and dying. The recent storms have also wiped out rural farming and fishing towns.

We believe that the plight of refugees in Denan and those struggling in rural poverty in Bangladesh are the plights of those who are being wholly forgotten. Much of this is due to lack of media attention and hence, lack of awareness.
In the Bangladeshi province of Pabna, there are currently only FOUR general hospitals and ONE community hospital.

Some of us know families that are going through hard times right now. It could be because of money, illness, or other reasons. We will try to lift their spirits by providing them with dinner.

Every day around me I see teenagers and young people getting kicked out of their homes or running away from abusive home lives. They have little or no money, nowhere to go (unless they have some friends who can house them for a while, but that is always temporary) and no way of building themselves up for a future.
I cannot stop these situations at home from happening, but I would like to provide food, water, shelter, facilities, and support for these people to get on their feet.
