*Support School Success...Be a Lunch Buddy!

Mentoring works! Research shows that kids with a caring adult or older youth role model do better in school and in life. You can be that person that makes a difference in a child's life. Partnership Academy K-6 Charter School serves a 90% Latino, almost 100% low income population. PA and PPL (www.ppl-inc.org) want to make sure that-really-no child is left behind.

Therapeutic Riding Changing the Lives of the Disabled

The lack of proper ways to educate and influence disabled people, especially children. Therapeutic riding encompases multiple aspects of therapy for any physical or mental disability. From blindness to multiple sclerosis to autism and downs syndrome, riding a horse can teach so much. Balance, coordination, strength, confidence, cause and effect, action and reaction, reading, colors, counting, listening skills, following directions, trusting humans and animals, self-acceptance, and adjusting to a new and sometimes scary situation are all things that can be learned from riding a horse.

The Modern Story

Many of our students are first generation learners, meaning they are the first of their family to receive any schooling at all. This daunting responsibility placed upon their shoulders is made more difficult by the necessary technological skills successful students must master. The Modern Story (TMS) is a grassroots educational program that bridges the technological divide by introducing digital skills and storytelling practices to youth and educators around the world.

Mine Yours Ours (MYO): What's Right in Relationships

1 in 3 teenagers report knowing a friend or peer who has been hit, punched, kicked, slapped, choked or physically hurt by their partner. (Liz Claiborne Inc. study on teen dating abuse conducted by Teenage Research Unlimited, February 2005.) At YouthSPEAK, we started the MYO (Mine, Yours, Ours): What’s Right In Relationships initiative to try and raise awareness, start conversations, and prevent teen dating violence for a generation of youth in our community of Bridgeport, CT. Bridgeport has one of the highest child poverty rates for a city of its size.

Let's Stop TEEN DATING...

Main problem that i am trying to solve is to put teens on the way where are suppose to be. I want teens to realize that they are getting involved in some activities which are not made for them and will hurt them like thorns later in their life. So that's why there was nothing better than picking this topic, Teen Dating which is a common activity that most of the teens are getting involved into and i am trying to get them out of it before it is too late by making this interesting online project which will be published online in New Year. So let's help me to solve this problem...

Biology Club = raising money for biology related charities

I am trying to get college students to give more of their time and/or money to charity events instead of wasting it on Friday nights. I am the organizer of all of the events for the Biology Club at my school. We have raised money for countless biology related charities such as: Ronald McDonald House, Relay for Life, National Breast Cancer Foundation, Chatham County Humane Society along with others.

City Year corps member

The problems that city year are targeting are numerous. We are looking to give children a better chance at life by spending almost 10hrs a day mentoring and tutoring them. By doing this we also hope to improve their grades and give them back that confidence and a positive can do attitude. We also target the high rise in the HIV by going around the youth (high school) and giving them the knowledge and the tools they need to keep themselves safe. We give them facts, clinics to get free testing, and hand out kits with condoms and facts.

Hope for Life - Mapalo Morning Glow Academy

I am targeting the community of Chipulukusu located in Ndola, Zambia, Africa. This is very impoverished community where thousands of orphans due to AIDS live with either extended family or on the streets. A local orphanage/school was discovered in 2005 now called Mapalo Morning Glow Academy. My first issue I am tackling is the need for the students at the orphanage to have proper soccer uniforms as they have 3 teams that compete in tournaments. Cuurently, they borrow uniforms and equipment from other schools.

Education

Youngsters should go to school instead of messing around.
