The new Star Trek movie is getting some major attention...but not for the usual Hollywood reasons. It has been picked up as a good example of a movie that doesn’t “promote” smoking. A forum on Facebook chronicles the ongoing debate between various online users.


Sticking it to cancer

Good news on the health front, as new findings show that in the last 15 years, the cancer rate dropped almost 20%. 650,000 lives were saved due to better prevention, treatment, and early detection.

In men, the death rate plunged 19.2% and in women, around 11.4%. Decreased deaths from breast cancer made up a big part of the overall decrease in women’s cancers.

National Women’s Health Week

The 10th annual celebration kicked off on Mother's Day, May 10, 2009 and lasts until May 16, 2009. With the theme "It's Your Time," the nationwide initiative encourages women to take simple steps for a longer, healthier, and happier life.

Why an entire week? Women are often the caregivers for their spouses, children, and parents and forget to focus on their own health. But research shows that when women take care of themselves, the health of their family improves.
