K2TECH

We provide Catholic Formation in the form of modern entertainment. We film feature length movies, Host Game Tournaments (games such as HALO), provide video coverage of K2Summit's legendary retreats led by 7th graders, and many other things.

Afrikaah

It has always been my dream to open an orphanage for children. In the 7th grade I learned at HIV/AIDS and it really intrigued me. Ever since then, I have wanted to open an orphanage in Africa, and just recently I have decided where and when I plan to do this. I would love to start now to prepare myself emotionally, physically and mentally for this trip. I have been learning about the culture, the disease, and all of the need-to-know facts.

AFRICAN AIDS

Bring Music to Children in Mexico

My name is Stephanie Gerber and I am a student at Brigham Young University. I'm starting a humanitarian aid project called "Music in Mexico". through this project, I hope to enhance music programs for low-income schools in parts of Mexico by providing instruments, supplies, and proper instruction from qualified teachers. I believe that by giving these children the opportunity to learn a skill, as well as have fun while discovering their potential, we can make a difference in their lives as they strive to be their best.

Read Write Action!

To see is to understand, to understand is to think, to think is to express, and to express is to grow. Our children aren't growing. They aren't being taught to think. What they take in at school has no apparent relationship to their reality. Knowledge, information, and even wisdom can be found everywhere. But, our kids must be taught to see it. They need to be able to see that they can learn, create, and that the learning process can be fun. Read Write Action!

African Loan Program

Basically, what I seek to do is to start a club at my high school to give loans to needy small African businesses that are trying to expand. When you think about all the aid that is going to Africa, you have to realize that so much of the money behind that goes to people in other continents (the farmers themselves, the pharmaceutical companies, etc.). I was inspired by a PBS show about a group called KIVA (found at kiva.org). It is a group dedicated to setting up local groups that approve their own loans for people in their communities.

Flowers For Friends

My Girl Scout Troop learned from a local florist about the large amount of flowers thrown away after funerals, weddings and other events. Together, we brainstormed an idea to set up a system to retrieve these flowers and recycle them into renewed arrangements. The renewed arrangements have a gift tag indicating "In honor of the wedding of _________"; In memory of the life of ___________"; In celebration of _________'s graduation", etc. to commemorate the donor or event.

The Global Micro-Clinic Project

The Global Micro-Clinic Project seeks to empower people to prevent and manage diseases in economically depressed and conflict-ridden areas of our world. The project centers around a community-driven philosophy, forming partnerships between health care professionals, academia, government, and citizens, recognizing that civic involvement is the life-blood of functioning communities and the foundation of healthy cities.

Teddys For Kids

This organization was put together to help children who have gone through many tough times in their life. The objective is to donate teddy bears to ill children in the hospital. Children with HIV/AIDS, cancer, have gone through serious surgeries, etc. In addition we would go visit them and read books to them.
