Since 2003, Darfur has been the target of systematic and widespread destruction. At least 2.5 million people are currently displaced within the region in isolated camps. Their homes, agricultural resources, livestock, water systems and household belongings have been stolen or destroyed. Community assets such as school buildings have also been destroyed. The Darfur Peace and Development Organization's (DPDO) two assessment missions in the region provided clear evidence of pressing needs that the organization could meet effectively.

Since February 2003, the Government of Sudan has been engaged in armed conflict with the indigenous African tribes in Darfur. Over 2.7 million civilians throughout Darfur have been displaced following destruction of hundreds of rural villages.
Women and children comprise approximately 80% of the displaced population encamped throughout Darfur and Eastern Chad. They have suffered loss of homes, family members, livelihoods and possessions.

For this project, I compare the cities of Caracas, Venezuela and Lima, Peru. I am trying to solve the large problem of poverty by analyzing the ways in which poverty manifests itself in each city. Although the histories of the cities are similar, the current governments are very different. I aim to learn more about the costs and benefits of a government like that of Alan Garcia versus that of Hugo Chavez. Politics are changing in the twenty-first century and I am trying to find out what the impact is on urban (and rural) poverty in Latin America.

Whether it was during my summer in Africa working to raise educational awareness among women about HIV/AIDS at health clinics, churches, and schools, or while visiting the orphanages in Phnom Peng, Cambodia, or helping to build a community plaza in Greece in honor of a young girl whose death had recently brought the town closer together...in all of these experiences, the greatest problem repeatedly I experienced among volunteers, NGO staffers, think tank policy advocates, social entrepreneurs, and other change makers is an information barrier.

We are trying to utilize contemporary forms of music history, english, production and healing with musical forms. The lack of understanding about music and its power remain a problem in society and with this lack of information we see the abuse of music to inhibit emotions.

The Genocide in Darfur. Located in Sudan, Africa, the Islamic controlled government turned on the western region of Sudan called Darfur. We are trying to help raise awareness and donate money to the Save Darfur Coalition to ensure that the 2.7 million refugees can live for a better tomorrow.
