Minga's Let's Get Real Campaign: Public Service Announcements

The child sex trade is an invisible monster among the world’s scourges. Experts measure global warming with melting ice caps, the spread of HIV/AIDS with diagnoses and the level of poverty with empty stomachs. Calculating the number of young people trapped in guarded brothels, in the back-rooms of businesses and behind the closed doors of residences is far more difficult. An estimated 2 million children are involved in the global sex trade.

The Nafula Foundation medical clinic in Kenya

Many citizens of Western Kenya have no access to basic medical care or sanitation, leading to the unnecessary illnesses and deaths or hundreds of people per day. In the village of Chebukwa, Kenya, there is no doctor or clinic to treat local residents who are suffering from preventable diseases. Many orphaned children and vulnerable adults die from treatable disease such as malaria and tuberculosis on a daily basis. Therefore, The Nafula Foundation wishes to build a clinic in the village, focusing on sanitation, child and maternal health and infectious diseases.

Journey of Action

As we all know, the youth played a major role in the success of the Obama campaign. However, it is one thing to vote for change and another to make change happen. The youth is aware of the challenges we face, but they are craving to know what they can actively do to cause change. People must change first, then the government will follow. Journey of Action's mission is to inspire the youth to become global citizens. We must educate our youth and encourage them to actively participate in their local community and our global community.

American hikers to face espionage charges

In July, three American backpackers were detained in Iran and charged with illegally crossing the boarder from Iraq. On Monday, a Tehran prosecutor announced that the three are being charged with spying.

The announcement of the charges comes only days after U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton met privately with the families of Shane Bauer, Sarah Shourd and Josh Fattal, who family say crossed the border by mistake. Their family and friends say it was an innocent mistake.

How Long Does She Have

Teen dating abuse happens in America more often than we like to admit. And the attitudes concerning it are equally shocking. Consider the vicious beating of Rihanna by Chris Brown and the worldwide response to it; MTV.com forums were full of victim-blaming and bashing, re-victimization of Rihanna, and support of Chris Brown. Consider also the terrible incident of the gang rape of a 16 year old at Richmond High School in California after her Homecoming dance. Our America needs an attitude readjustment, and a paradigm shift. After all, this is America, not Afghanistan.

Pride Club

I go to a public military school in Chicago. In the military they have the "Don't ask, Don't tell" policy. Which has gone into our school. Its not cool. Half of my school is not straight and when we ask for a club they tell us No. I don't think so. The culb would help people become more aware of homosexuality.

Reaching Japanese Youth

The youth of Japan have many problems forced on them through the society they live in. Many can't live up to the high expectations that have been set for them and some do what they call "withdraw" and cease to be members of society. I feel, if I could show them some hope that Jesus brings into people's lives, they could learn that there is more to life then grads.
