There has been a ongoing war for more than 21 years in East Africa that most people do not know about! Women and children are abducted from their homes and communities to fight for a man that brainwashes them and murders them.

There are a great number of things in this world that one cannot deny: the laws of physics, the human need for food and shelter, the anatomy of the body, and the cycles of birth and death that our bodies perpetuate, are a few examples. We live by and with these things, and we are molded by their impact on our lives. We do not deny them for they are impossible to ignore. The presence of unnecessary and preventable human suffering also belongs on that list, but it is different. It is true that we do not deny it, like the others, but we also choose not to accept it.

I am a student at Auburn University, where I am involved with the Auburn University Students For Life organization which is a pro-life organization. Our country has a quickly increasing rate of abortions among college women. Our goal is to form a daycare on campus for student parents. We feel that if we can accomplish this, it may start a trend at college campuses around the country so that the number of abortions will decrease.

Over the past ten years, Indian farmers have tragically felt so burdened by exorbitant interest rates, that they have felt no other option but to turn to suicide. This disturbing phenomenon leaves a growing population of widows, who heroically balance supporting their families with a social status considered to be one of the lowest in India.
I am helping economically disadvantaged women to become decision-makers and leaders in their families, communities, India, and throughout the world by helping them to build sustainable entrepreneurial ventures.

I live in a small town in Georgia, but it's not all white picket fences. We have drug abuse, academic problems, and abuse problems in the community especially with the middle and high school students. There is always a drug bust in our county every other week and if we were able to speak to our peers and give them the help they need the drug abuse rate would drop. A problem that ties in with the drug problem is the academic problems at the school. In past years, the school use to be at the top in academics, but now scores are so low that we are a "needs improvement school".

I am attempting to solve a problem which has been an ongoing issue in my community and the surrounding area. Gangs and violence have been a serious problem prevelent in RI and i will attempt to reshape the attitude of youth throughout the city. In this way i will be able to create a more vibrant community and bridge the gap between different ethnic, racial, and socieoeconomic backrounds.
