Hunger

Super Kids Day Food Drive

3rd grade students at Dodge Literacy Magnet Elementary School sponsored a Super Kids Day Food Drive to collect food for the Kansas Food Bank in Wichita, Kansas on May 18, 2007. The students set a school-wide goal of 500 pounds, with a promise to spray silly string on teachers if the goal was met. After the food was collected on Super Kids Day, the students tallied the weight of the food items. They also sorted the food by categories.

End Poverty Now

End Poverty Now is an organization that is dedicated to the long-term battle against abject poverty. Born out of the international Make Poverty History campaign, End Poverty Now represents a group of dedicated individuals, mainly students, who want to make a difference in the world, working to end abject poverty. End Poverty Now operates upon a tri-pillar base: education and information, lobbying, and grass-roots development initiatives. Our organization works hard to educate every-day citizens about the realities of global poverty.

Thanksgiving Dinner Drive

As a minister of the Holistic Ministry and a member of the UU church, every year we sponsor families for both Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners as well as our Toy drive for the children in the hospital.   We have 5 days left for our Thanksgiving Dinner drive and we are short the funds needed to feed all of our families.  We are looking for help. If you would like to help with a donation please visit “NEED HELP FOR THANKSGIVING DINNERS”.

Food for Love

When Jessica was born, her mother didn't have a job and couldn't afford food. So, she grew up learning how to use coupons strategically to obtain food at little or no cost. She started "Food for Love" to share this knowledge with the needy by forming coupon clubs, distributing food, and starting a website dedicated to the topic.

Help Kick Out Hunger

After reading an article about a local food bank shortage, Greg started a four week soccer program for preschool kids—in lieu of a monetary fee, he charges cans of food and hygiene products. This way, he can donate the goods to local shelters and food banks and also teach kids basic soccer skills. Greg wants to expand his idea to other schools.
