Trafficking in persons is modern-day slavery, involving victims who are forced, defrauded or coerced into labor or sexual exploitation

The problem that I am trying to combat is voter apathy and injustice. If we can bring young people into the system earlier, while they are more likely to get involved, they might have civic responsibility instilled in them for life. Since this would affect young perople still in high school, it would be easier to educate voters about the issues and make a more informed electorate. The injustice that this movement combats is that in many states, young people as young as 14 years old can be tried as adults in court but can not vote.

There are more than 2.2 million Iraqi refugees that had to flee Iraq in the past few years. They fled to neighboring countries, often with nothing more than they could carry. The countries around Iraq are having trouble feeding and housing the Iraqi refugees. There are not enough schools for the kids to attend. Many families cannot afford to feed their families, much less pay for schooling. Sadly, many refugee kids have seen things far worse than shown in any R-rated movie, but there is little help available for them.

On the November night of the presidential election in 2004, I was with my friends watching the results come in. As the evening wore on, one of heavily covered stories was the disappointing turnout of young voters. The media painted a grim picture, saying that once again young people didn’t show up. What’s going on here? I asked. With so much at stake, why aren’t we turning out in larger numbers?
I felt our generation was incredibly under-represented in the political process.

I am trying to solve a single problem, rather than many. My project is based on community involvement in general. My community is small but has many problems including drugs and a lack of youth outreach programs. My program is youth-oriented but involves the entire community, as well.

The home of Our project is in Pine Ridge, SD. Located roughly 1.5 hrs from any non-tribal town in any direction on the reservation. The Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota is one of the poorest places in the United States. Unemployment on the reservation averages about 80%. Adolescent suicide is nearly four times the national average. Many children return home to parents who, if they are there, are often too drunk or two high to give them the love and support that they need.

I started Tunes 4 the Troops to let the military know that kids like me support them. It dosen't matter if you support the war or not, that isn't what Tunes 4 the Troops is about. It is all about supporting our Troops!

My name is Mitchell and I’m a 17-year-old student/soccer player from Wisconsin. I started Peace Is The Goal as a goodwill initiative in October 2006 when I was 13 years old. This ongoing initiative aims to make the world a better place to live in by spreading the message of peace and giving through “the world’s game”, soccer.
Many kids in the world have little, if anything. They are desperately looking for something positive to do. They love the sport of soccer, but many don’t even have real equipment to play the game. Rocks, plastic bottles or garbage are often used as balls.
