Many of our troops coming back from war in Iraq and Afghanistan are struggling with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI). There seems to be not enough being done to help them through this. Freedom Dogs is a non profit that trains service dogs to pair with troops in need and help them through their dark times.

I am trying to help severely wounded veterans financially because they cannot support their families like they could prior to the war.

After viewing "Invisible Children", I decided it was time to spread the word. Not many people realized that there was even a war going on in Africa. Because no one knows about the war, no one knows about the people, especially the children being affected by the war. So by showing monthly screenings of the different stories of the "Invisible Children" and doing different fund raisers and activities throughout the school, we are slowly but surely 'eliminating ignorance' in the everyday teenager.

In doing this project I hope to bring patriotism back to my community. After we first went to war, the whole country happily displayed yellow ribbons, and tried their hardest to support our troops. Now, six years later, I feel like that patriotism has diminsihed.

As the country comes to grips with the violent tragedy that took the lives of 13 and injured 30, we at DoSomething.org are taking this opportunity to focus on the mental health crisis that plagues our nation’s armed forces. The issue can no longer be ignored.
The background
The man suspected of a deadly rampage Thursday at Fort Hood was a military psychiatrist whose had turned against the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan but was about to be sent overseas, his cousin told Fox News.

I live in a small town in Georgia, but it's not all white picket fences. We have drug abuse, academic problems, and abuse problems in the community especially with the middle and high school students. There is always a drug bust in our county every other week and if we were able to speak to our peers and give them the help they need the drug abuse rate would drop. A problem that ties in with the drug problem is the academic problems at the school. In past years, the school use to be at the top in academics, but now scores are so low that we are a "needs improvement school".
