I'm not a big fan of adults, and I'm frankly beginning to doubt their ability to make our world a better place. Take Congress -- please. On the other hand, I've been heartened in recent weeks by working on The 2011 VH1 Do Something! Awards -- which airs tonight at 9PM. The show -- hosted by the amazing and consistently hilarious Jane Lynch -- puts the spotlight on young people making a difference by "rocking the causes" that matter the most to them, as well as celebrating lots of more familiar celebrities who use their star power for the common good.
Held to recognize the most charitable people, places and events over the past year, the winners of the 2011 Do Something Awards were crowned in Los Angeles, California on Sunday night (August 14).
With "Glee" actress Jane Lynch tending to hosting duties for the second straight year, big winners announced during the swanky ceremony included Olivia Wilde as Do Something Movie Star, Justin Bieber as Do Something Music Artist and David Beckham as Do Something Athlete.
The woman who makes Sue Sylvester so inhospitable has a new role: TV host.
“Glee” star Jane Lynch returns to host the Do Something Awards for the second year at 9 p.m. Thursday on VH1. The event honors celebrities who better the world through their activism. But one category salutes everyday people who are younger than 25; that winner will receive $100,000.

Winners will be announced during the 2011 Do Something Awards, hosted by Jane Lynch (Glee), which airs on Thursday, August 18th 2011 at 9PM EST on VH1.
Jane Lynch, Adam Lambert and Lady Gaga….okay. I, for one, can actually remember when VH1 stood for Video Hits One and ran music 24/7. Heck, I remember when MTV had music on it. Still, at least they do occasionally honor, you know, real musicians. Adam Lambert has been nominated for VH1’s Do Something Awards for 2011. Lambert is joined by Lady Gaga, Nick Jonas, Justin Bieber and The Black Eyed Peas in the nominations.
