Writing a petition is a great way to encourage change or peacefully protest a policy. You'll need to sell people on why this issue is a problem and get their support.
Identify Your Target
Which organization, elected official, or company do you want to take action on this issue? Your target could range from a media corporation to a political party. In some cases, you could have multiple targets.
Want to make a huge visual impact? What's better than hosting a candlelight vigil? It is a great way to inspire people about your cause, while making a visual splash.

Find a venue
Pick a place outside that can accommodate a lot of people. Maybe a school sports field (think baseball or football field).
Find free advertising space around town and get the message about your cause out!
Think about all the different ways you can advertise... on billboards, in store windows, at school, on cars, etc. Then talk to vendors and adults in your community to use the space for free. You can even trade your services for the space!
I want to spread the word about an awesome cause! Do you know of any free advertising space around town?
There are tons of people out there who don’t know much about your cause or how many people it affects. Here are some tips on how to start an awareness campaign about a cause you care about.
Not only are rallies exciting and fun, but they also bring a bunch of people together for an awesome cause.
Purpose
Before the rallying begins, there should be a cause you want to spread awareness of. Media attention is super important because it allows you to reach more people about your cause.
We've got a tip for anyone who leaves the magazine section of bookstores dissapointed: Do it yourself. While this motto doesn't work for operating heavy machinery, it's a perfect approach to raising awareness about a cause.
Find a Focus
Write down what you want your magazine to be about. Ask yourself:
Hosting a benefit concert is a great way to raise money for your cause while having fun and rocking out to a super cool band.
Build your team
Planning an event is stressful, so don’t do it alone. Make a Facebook status announcing your plan to host a concert and ask if anyone is interested to help.
Not only can surveys be very powerful, but they can also increase awareness about a cause you care about. Your survey results can give you information about what people think and believe about specific issues/topics.
Get the go ahead. You don’t want to get on your principal’s bad side so first make sure that he or she is okay with this sort of thing.
Get your teachers on board. Have the teachers promise to do something crazy if you reach a certain goal, like promise to wear a ridiculous t-shirt to work or shave their heads. The hope of punishing a teacher has a certain way of inspiring people.
