Family
My family has been deteriorated(may have spelt that wrong) by cancer. 2 years ago my uncle died of melanoma(in December no doubt). And just this last December my grandma died of multiple-melanoma(bone cancer where blood attacks the bone and deteriorates it). December's not our best month, if you can tell. I say that we all have to fight to find some cure for cancer. Any cure. A way to start the hope. I feel for all the others who lives have been or are being changed by cancer. Pray for those who have to fight through the pain today and everyday.
Grandparents
my grandfather just passed away due to pancreatic cancer. he had been fighting it for 4 years. i was shocked to learn that the actor patrick swayze has been diagnosed with the same type of cancer and people already seem to be planning his funeral! to anyone out there who knows someone with pancreatic cancer, there is hope. science is doing amazing things to help find a cure or to at least give people more time after they have been diagnosed.
Relay for Life
Find a Relay for Life and start a team in your community! The best way to do this is to get friends from school to start the team with you. Never heard of RFL before? Well it's an event the first weekend in June where you stay on site from one evening to the next morning. There's always fun events and stuff to do to stay awake all night. All of the money raised goes to the American Cancer Society. The Do Something Club at my high school participated in RFL and we all had a really great time hanging out for a good cause.
