We hear about it almost everyday in some way or another, but how much do we really know about HIV/AIDS in our own backyard? As of the year 2000 (the latest year for which data is currently available) there were about 1 million people in the United States living with AIDS, one quarter of whom are unaware of their infection. About 40,000 people each year are newly infected with HIV and over half of them are under the age of 25. The only way to help prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS is to know the difference, understand how it is spread, and inform others about the importance of getting tested. So arm yourself with knowledge of HIV/AIDS and get out there and do something about AIDS awareness! For more facts, click here. Need Help NOW? Check out our list of national hotlines! |

hi
Hi,
I am from Bangalore, India. We are working with a group of people who have contracted HIV through their father. We have around 100 kids of these HIV parents. We want to do some thing for them.
We tried to put them in general schjool but they are taking them. We want to some how give them atleast decent living. I am looking for ideas and support from you all here as to what we can do to them. We are planing to have a building and teach them with volunteers mostly vocational taining. I want your views.
with regards,

Really think about it...
I have done things to help the kids who have HIV/AIDS in Africa, i did not go too Africa but i put together some safety kits for them. They do not know it they have HIV/AIDS until they go to a doctor which is from 2-3 days away sometimes. When they go too the doctors they have to walk. Some kids who's parents had HIV/AIDS don't always get them but they do a lot of the time. The parents sometimes don't know they have HIV/AIDS until they are dead and their child/children find out from the doctor or whom ever tests the parents. So don't be so hard on the kids who do deserver their HIV/AIDS.
Their own fault
HIV/Aids. As far as I'm conserned it is your own fault if you contract HIV/aids. You do the deed thats what you risk getting. Unless your mother had it when you where born.
KNOWLEDGE IS THE KEY
I FOUND OUT THAT THE ACRONYM A.I.D.S. BEGINS WITH ACQUIRED WHICH MEANS MORE THAN WHAT WE HAVE THOUGHT. ACQUIRED REALLY MEANS "A PERSONAL CONCERTED EFFORT AT ACHIEVING SOMETHING". IF YOU AND I CAN UNDERSTAND THAT APART FROM THE INNOCENT BABY THAT IS BORN INFECTED, ANY OTHER PERSON WHO IS INFECTED ACTUALLY WORKED AT GETTING IT.
TALK ABOUT THE INSTRUMENTS THAT MEDICAL PRACTIONERS, SALON SPECIALISTS, ETC USE, YOU REALISE THAT IF ALL OF US, SEVERALLY THOUGH COULD GO TO THEM AND INSIST ON THEY USING THE RIGHT TOOLS, WE WILL NOT END UP BLAMING THEM FOR USING INFECTED ONES.YOU MUST INSIST BECAUSE YOU ARE PAYING FOR THE SERVICE.
BUT THE GREATEST WAY TO CONTRACT THE VIRUS IS THROUGH SEXUAL RELATIONS. THIS IS REALLY WHERE THE ACQUISITION COMES TO FULL PLAY. THERE ARE THREE WAYS TO SOLVE THE HEALTH MENACE-ABSTENANCE, BEING FAITHFUL, AND CONDOMS.
I LIKE TO EMPHASIZE ON THE ABSTINENCE BECAUSE THAT IS REALLY WHERE WE CAN GET RESULTS OF REDUCING TO THE BAREST MINIMUM, IF NOT ERADICATING, H.I.V/A.I.D.S MENACE. ABSTINENCE SEEMS IMPOSSIBLE, REALLY BECAUSE THE CAMPAIGN TEAM DONT EMPHASIZE IT.
IT IS GREATLY POSSIBLE, I HAVE PRACTICED IT MYSELF FOR THE WHOLE OF MY LIFE AND I HAVE FOUND THAT IT IS POSSIBLE.
WHILES YOU ARE READING THIS PIECE, I NEED YOU TO UNDERSTAND THAT THE WRITER IS A VIRGIN WHO THUS HAS NOT BEEN CONTAMINATED.
I WILL THEREFORE SUGGEST A VERY INTIMATE RELATION WITH GOD (SORRY IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE IN GOD BUT HE TRULY EXISTS) BUT THAT IS THE POWER BEHIND ALL OUR THOUGHTS AND BEHAVIOURS. A TRUE COMMITMENT TO GOD IS THE KEY TO ABSTENANCE.
IT CAN WORK.
IT DOES NOT MATTER IF YOU HAVE ALREADY COMMITED YOURSELF, JUST PRAY TO GOD AND START LIFE AGAIN. BREAK THE ASSOCIATIONS THAT ARE BECOMING PRESSURES AND JOIN YOURSELF TO A PROACTIVE SPORTS, WRITING,KEEP FIT, MUSIC, TOURIST, ETC GROUP. FORM ONE IF THE CASE BE, THAT WILL BE BASED ON RESEARCHING AND DEBATING ISSUES ON ALL ANGLES, WITH THE AIM TO FINDING SOLUTIONS TO THOSE.
IT IS POSSIBLE.
I LOVE YOU
GOD LOVES EVEN MORE
WE CAN GET THERE.
YOU ARE THE REASON I AM PASTIING THIS COMMENT.
You should know about these things.
You should know what a virion is.
You should know what bioinformatics is.
You should care to know these things.
Virology
First, you have to care. You have to spend time doing something which you will not be paid to do. You have to make a commitment. Only then can you help.
People suffer from viruses. We are here to help the people.
We are human beings and we should help one another.
A person should be happy and healthy, not being destroyed from within by viruses.
Because we are people, we should care for people.
In physics, we consider the universe, the earth, and the human body. Sometimes it is good to turn from physics to people. Because we love people, we should use physics to combat the virions which destroy the human body. We should use physics to combat the virions which have no love for people.
A virion is a thing. A virion can enter a human body and kill it. Virions have no love. Virions can be defeated using physics.
In order for humanity to have victory over virions, we must first have a small group of people who care and are willing to work together in harmony. We must wage war against the virions. We need to spend our time communicating, studying and working together, knowing that we are not being paid.
HIV carelink
Hiv Carelink is an amazing organization that educates people, primarlily christians and students, about the disease. I have heard Mike, the founder of this organization speak a few times and he is amazing. If you live in Colorado you should really see if you can get the chance to hear him speak. I love Mike really. He is down to earth straight forward and honest and he is really living with AIDS. Take a look at http://www.hivcarelink.org/home.htm it really is amazing.
HIV/AIDS is a disease that
HIV/AIDS is a disease that is affecting more and more people. We all need to make sure that we are educated on the facts; people need to know that AIDS is not just a “gay” disease and that AIDS isn’t only affecting third world countries. It’s also important to know that speakers and pamphlets aren’t the only ways to get the facts. These are great ways to recognize the impact of AIDS not only globally, but also in our own backyards.
A great way to understand the impact of HIV/AIDS on people is through theatre. There are countless groups traveling the nation bringing the stories of AIDS victims in an accessible way. UNESCO (United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization) has published a book entitled AIDS and Theatre: How to use theatre to respond to HIV/AIDS, giving inspiration to writing and learning about HIV/AIDS. The Global Youth Coalition on HIV/AIDS youth also offers outlets for youth to educate the youth on HIV/AIDS, healthy lifestyles, and script writing. Groups such as The Not Ready for Bedtime Players have created a manual filled with scripts not only on HIV/AIDS but how to practice safer sex and avoid STIs as well.
One of the most effective ways to enable the youth to understand the threats of HIV/AIDS is to hear it from the youth. Remember: HIV/AIDS does not discriminate; it doesn’t pick their victims based on age, color, sexual orientation, or gender.
