Superstar Madonna wows us with her new role as Producer, Writer, and Narrator of her feature documentary "I Am Because We Are," which she premiered this past weekend at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York.
CGG checked out the film, which opens with Archbishop Desmond Tuto proclaiming "I am because we are," or "Ubuntu," an idea present in African spirituality which means that we only exist because of each other, and that we are all connected in community, health and faith.
Madonna claims she was drawn to Malawi, first from a phonecall soliciting her help, and then on her goodwill journey throughout the country where she used her celebrity status to bring attention to a country where over one million children have been orphaned by AIDS.

Eight orphans are highlighted throughout the journey, putting a human face on the country's epidemic.
Madge is drawn to one child, David, living at the Hope of Hope orphanage in Michinji. When David looks at the camera with his hopeful eyes, we fall in love with him too. After Madge returned on a second trip to the orphanage and found him very sick, lacking in basic medicine, she decided to begin the long process of adopting him.
"I Am Because We Are" provides a deep look into the problems ravishing Malawi, but also provides a message of hope, and calls for all people to look beyond their own problems to help others.
