Matt Damon knows best

When you're a celebrity, "You start to feel a level of responsibility to direct attention to things that actually matter more than to silly things like who you're dating." These are the words of Matt Damon, People's reigning Sexiest Man Alive and father of one and soon-to-be two! Looks like someone has his priorities intact!

Damon and pregnant wife Luciana joined best friend Ben Affleck and his pregnant wife Jennifer Garner at a recent Miami fundraiser to support Barack Obama. At the fundraiser’s reception, following Affleck's and Garner's speeches, Damon gave his own speech about how our country needs change-- and he would know.

In 2006, He traveled to Zambia on a "listening and learning trip," where he witnessed the dire need of clean water in communities near the Sahara. This trip led to his H2O Africa Foundation. In addition, Damon and some of his Ocean's Eleven buddies co-founded Not On Our Watch, which works to put an end to the mass killings in Darufr and around the world.

Damon has his hands full--beautiful wife, baby at home and baby on the way, movie making, and trying to change the world. But even though he and his A-list friends rule the Hollywood scene, Damon maintains a down-to-earth way that's pretty much unheard of among his peers.

He said, "I think many of our problems would be solved if people had thick passports. There's just no substitute for actually going and seeing things."

What about you guys? Traveled outside the country this summer vacation? Build houses in Guatemala? Help out at Doctors without Borders in Ghana? Share! We’d love to hear it!
