A couple of weeks ago, I wrote about Pete Wentz's involvement with Invisible Children and raising awareness of the conditions facing child soldiers and dispaced citizens in northern Uganda.

Well, aparently, he did show up at the Displace Me event afterall, spending the night in a cardboard city outside of Los Angeles and making an effort to understand what it would feel like to be forced from his home. Having been so inspired by the event, MTV is reporting that Wentz and his Fall Out Boy bandmates are now planning a trip to the African country to experience the place for themeselves. They plan on meeting locals and learning about the social and political circumstances that have forced so many from their homes.
I first heard about Invisible Children from a friend who gave me the DVD about a year ago (Thanks, Jason!). As a very cool part of the overall concept, after you have watched it, if you feel so inspired, you are urged to pass it on to someone else who is open to learning about the issue and helping ease global suffering. If you haven't had the chance to see it, be warned that it can be a bit disturbing. It's not lovely and sweet, but it is true and important. Learn more here.
