Hi Turkeys! I hope you all had great Thanksgivings and aren't stressing too much about finals coming up. Things are bonkers and awesome as usual at Do Something. I've been doing some travelling -- which is to say I was spending the holiday in Arkansas with my granny's dial-up internet connection as my only link to city-life. I wasn't able to post there, but I'm back in action and ready to bring you all the good dirt. We'll start off the day with some good, old-fasioned entertainment.
I'm sort of a sucker for music videos with a social conscience (yes, I have posted World on Fire more than once on this blog!), so I am happy to hit you with two today. This post brought my attention to the latest Sheryl Crow video for her song "Shine Over Babylon". I'm actually not much of a Crow fan, but I do love the messaging of her video. Check it out here:
This one isn't as up-to-date, as I've been posting about the production for a while but failed to throw the video up in a timely manner. Better late than never, though. Here's Fall Out Boy's "Me and You".
How GORGEOUS is that video! I can't watch it without wanting to get on a plane and meet the beautiful people in it. I am so impressed with the way that Fall Out Boy has stuck to this issue. If you want to learn more about the plight of child soldiers, I really recommend Jimmie Brigg's book Innocents Lost. He's such an amazing man who's travelled around the world collecting real stories from real people who have experienced the impact of children trained as warriors. Here's an NPR interview with the author and UN Goodwill Ambassador discussing the topic.
