Frequently Asked Questions | Do Something 101
What is Do Something 101?
Launched by DoSomething.org and Staples, Do Something 101 is a national school supply drive that benefits underserved youth. Now in its third year, the campaign encourages teens to collect school supplies for their community.
When can I drop off supplies?
You can drop off school supplies at any Staples store throughout the United States from July 4th through September 18th. DoSomething.org and Staples will make sure they get to local students who need them the most.
Do the supplies have to be new?
Yes. Think about school supplies you would want to receive. However, if it is something you bought awhile ago and never used, but is still in good condition, that is acceptable as well.
Can I donate money to the cause?
Yes. The main focus of the campaign is on collecting supplies but if you have parents, friends, teachers, etc who want to get involved, they can participate by donating $1 at any Staples store in the U.S. from July 4 – September 18.
Where do the supplies go after I donate them at Staples?
Every Staples store is paired with a local non-profit organization that supports children and education. After July 4th, visit your local Staples store to learn more about your local beneficiary.
Is Staples donating any school supplies?
Absolutely! Staples is generously donating more than $125,000 worth of school supplies to the cause.

What is the Give-Back Pack program?
New for 2010, Do Something 101 is getting even more celebrity power with the Give-Back Pack, a grassroots and online program where music artists Jason Derulo, Kellie Pickler and Drake Bell are also encouraging teens to get involved. By signing up for a Give-Back Pack, teens can spread the word online and gain access to exclusive content and sweepstakes.
How does it work?
We are so excited to have three additional celebrities involved to build on Nikki’s efforts for Do Something 101. Our Give-Back Pack “pack” leaders include country music star, Kellie Pickler, TV star/singer Drake Bell and pop-star Jason Derulo. Fans can go online to pick their pack leader and gain exclusive content to their celebrities as well as tips for planning their own Do Something 101 drives. With every member who signs up to join their pack, the celebrities will donate $1 to Do Something 101, up to $5000 per pack. At the end of the program, select winners will have a chance to meet their favorite star and receive special autographed merchandise.
