Although Alice left Esperanza Community Housing Corporation, she continues to work for the homeless and low-income individuals as a housing consultant and as a board member of 18th Street Arts Center. The Esperanza Community Housing Corporation seeks to create opportunities for community residents’ growth, security, participation, recognition, and ownership through developing and preserving affordable housing, creating opportunities for child care, ensuring quality education, promoting accessible health care, stimulating involvement in arts and culture, pursuing economic development, and advocating for progressive public policy. Through partnerships with churches, schools, block clubs and other community institutions, Esperanza helps to strengthen the social infrastructure of the neighborhood.
