Describe what this winner does/did:
Terrol Dew Johnson co-founded Tohono O'Odham Community Action. Through the creation of a basket-weaver's marketing cooperative, a youth-elder program, a family garden initiative and a charter high school, Terrol is working to promote sustainable community development, cultural revitalization and educational success for the Tohono O'Odham Nation in Southern Arizona.

For the past two years, Terrol has been on a “journey of the heart,” a 3000 mile walk with his teenage niece and nephew. Stopping at native communities to discuss health and culture, “The Walk Home” has celebrated native traditions, healthy commitments, and family ties. Tohono O’odham Community Action is still dedicated to creating a healthy, sustainable and culturally-vital community on the Tohono O’odham Nation. They now concentrate on 4 key overlapping program areas: food system and wellness initiative, basketry, youth and elder programs, and arts and culture revitalization.
