Have a heart for the homeless

Okay, so I've always (since I was a lil kid) wanted to help out with my community, environment, homeless ect. I can home from school yesterday and looked up homeless shelters in my area that needed volunteers. There was one about an hour away from me so my mom is planning on taking a friend and I down there this weekend. My town is so small theres nothing I can do to help here really. I dont really know what else to do but I want to get more involved. Any brilliant ideas?!

You sound like you really want to help out. I dont have many ideas other than carpooling with parents of friends to a bigger town. Keep it up Chey!!
ok there is always something you can do, not only for the people but for your town too!!! maybe once a month go to the homeless shelter, but help out around your city. Help clean up garbage create projects to do. like recycling or make a fundraiser where you can find a cause to raise money to help out somewhere in the world. put jars in stores or anywhere where money can be collected. If you want anymore ideas just ask me!

You should send some snail mail to the shelters in your town asking them what they really need. Maybe ask your school's principal if they can start a fundraiser for the needs of such shelters. You never know what could happen.
Yeah but the thing with the fundraiser is my high school and most high schools are super strict on what you can have fundraisers for. I've already talked to our school prez about things like that and I guess the schools only allotted like 2-3 fundraisers a year... Its messed up but whatever.
I went through the same exact thing,but dont give up...
maybe you should rally more people in your community and work on changing things near your community, such as having food drives or planting trees.
Are you saying there is no homeless in your town?, that sould make you happy, winter is a terrible time to be homeless and i have never understood why so many people want to live that way. good luck
If you want to help out homeless shelters, a great idea is a sock collection! Socks are the number one requested item that shelters need! : )
