Homeless puppies

I live in South Carolina and while visiting my grandma in the country a few weeks ago, I noticed 6 puppies roaming around. I dont know if they have legit homes but I could see their rib cages. I fed them some scraps of food i could find but they were all still hungry. My question is who can i contact to get these puppies in a good home. I would like to keep one but my mother said no because i already have a dog, but i plan on buying dog food so that when i visit my grandma i can feed them. Where my grandmother lives there is A Lot of homeless and starving animals and i just did not want to see these young puppies starve. I am a member of PETA so maybe i can contact them, but does anyone else no any other organizations i can contact? Thanks so much for your help!
