Technology: a new way of helping
Hi! I'm Chaki Fabian, I'm a fourth year student from Mary Help of Christians School Inc. Mabiga, Mabalacat, Pampanga, Philippines. This blog you are reading right here is actually a project of mine in our Media Class. So keep on reading...
Not so long ago, two major typhoons passed by our country, and not so long ago there has been a change in the lives of the Filipinos. "Ondoy" and "Peping" left with something more than destroyed properties, lost lives, and trauma for the Filipinos. The recent calamities that attacked our country have given us a chance to show to our fellow Filipinos how much we care for each other.
It's been two months since that incident but still, people are still giving all that they have for our unfortunate brothers and sisters who still are not able to live normal lives. If you can't help because you don't have the means (like money? precisely), it's okay. We can still help our "kababayans" through technology, people! How, may you ask, my dear friends? Here are 2 of the simplest ways:
1. BLOG it all the way- what on Earth are these blogs for if you're just going to put some nonsense that other people don't even care about? Blogs are meant for us to reach out to other people. Blog about certain projects for packing relief goods near your area or just let other people know what observations or insights you have about actions the government or non-government organizations are doing to help the victims. Blogging is the Best way to carry out an important message. Everyone in the world can read it.
2. TEXT TEXT TEXT- the Philippines is the number one texting capital in the world. Own a phone? Then use your phone to send out messages that encourage people to help and donate something for the victims. Instead of sending those silly group messages that people don't even bother to read, send them the inspiration they need to help. You might help change your friends' lives, too. (Packing relief goods gives you a great feeling, trust me on that.)
The 2 ways to help are very simple but it works. Instead of using technology as a past time, use technology as a way to reach out to people and to speak out. Let's show how much we care for our "Kababayans" through technology.
Thank you for reading, and please, your comments and reactions are very welcome! (very)
