How to get teens to care about voting?

Any ideas? I'm starting a group that focuses mainly on gay rights, but at our first meeting I really want to talk about the importance of voting--for EVERY cause you're passionate about. But I've found, especially with my new 18 year olds, that they don't care. How can I get them to care, and more importantly to want to vote?

For many years now I have been a Youth Leader for the American Red Cross, and it has completely changed my life. I have always wanted to see how a few passionate individuals ( like myself ) could make changes in the world while helping and stepping out of our communities.

If someone can enlist in the Army at eighteen, should they be old enough to drink alcohol?

Some say that if your old enough to put your life on the line for your country you should be able to smoke and drink? Is this right? Should that be considered? If your able to give your life to your country, should you be able to have that right? We had this discussion in history the other day and maybe I just want to hear more opinions. comments? concerns? thoughts? opinions?

Can the world stop looking out for their interests and start thinking for the betterment of humanity.

Over the years the selfishness of the world has grown. We have stopped caring about the innocent people affected by genocide, war and human rights violations. The United States and other nations of power sit by and watch as innocent men, women and children are tortured, murdered, raped. If there is no oil, why care? If it doesn't affect us, eh? But as a human we should all care. We are one people. One world. We are all the same. If it was happening to us we would pray that the world would help us. So why do we back these governments that commit such atrocities?

But I don't support our troops!

So, dosomething's December campaign is "support our troops". The only problem with that is that I don't. I can't support war! See, my problem is that all the people in Iraq signed up to be there. If they had been drafted, I would see this project completely differently. However, they were not drafted, and therefore, I must say, I have little sympathy for their situation. I know that people join the military for a variety of reasons, and I do not judge them for it. However, I don't feel that I have anything to thank them for, as a matter of fact, I think it's a terrible thing to do.
