The Global Action Awards honor U.S. high school students who have led a project that had a direct, positive impact on people in developing countries or that raised awareness about global poverty. The Awards celebrate young people who have shown great leadership in areas such as preventing disease, alleviating hunger, protecting the environment, promoting human rights, and improving access to education. Honorees receive $5,000 for higher education or a charitable cause of their choice, and are honored at a ceremony in New York City. Projects should focus around the ideas of: innovation; cooperation; leadership; inspiration; and impact.
