Do Something with your Summer
Thinking about relaxing this summer? Okay, go ahead, you deserve it. But don’t forget: the summer is long and there are hundreds of unique opportunities you might miss if you relax too much. Here are ten ways you can “do something” with your summer.
1. Intern at local charity or non-profit.
Internships are a perfect way to gain experience, delve deeper into a cause you care about or learn how the non-profit world really works. (And they look great on your resume too!) Check out idealist.org for internships in your area. It’s good to plan ahead. Start looking now!
2. Go on a volunteer vacation.
Add a stamp to your passport and make a difference at the same time. Check out:

5. Go WWOOfing (willing workers on organic farms) in a different country.
6. Start it yourself.
Have a great idea, but just couldn’t find the time during the school year to make it happen? Well now you have three months to put your idea into action. If you need funds to get your project off the ground check out our fundraising ideas or apply for a $500 GameStop grant.
7. Start a class or club team
Check your the local YMCA or through your town recreation department and try to start a new class or sport if they don't have it already. Get your friends invovled to make sure it is success (and fun).
8. Start an interior design company that caters to low-income women; spruce up their homes free of charge.
9. Give a voice to local youth - Grab 5 friends and form a committee to attend local town hall meetings
10. Check out volunteer opportunities in your area.
